Primavolt in review: One provider for electricity, gas, mobile and DSL?

"Can't I just have one provider for everything?" This question reaches us regularly via the contact form – usually from people who have just searched three different customer portals for three different bills. This is exactly the gap Primavolt targets: a provider that sells electricity, gas, mobile, and DSL from a single source. Sounds convenient. But is it actually any good? We took a look at the newcomer's plans – and we'll say it upfront: Primavolt is one of our partners, so we link with a vested interest. All the more important that we give you an honest assessment.

Who's behind it?

Primavolt has only been on the market since 2026. It has to be said clearly: there are no years of experience reports yet, no established review history, no long-term test. If you only sign up with traditional providers with thirty years of company history, this isn't for you. On the other hand: every provider was new once, and young providers have to compete on price – which Primavolt clearly does. The approach of bundling energy and telecommunications isn't actually as exotic as it sounds; the model has long been established abroad.

The mobile plans: three sizes, all with 5G

All three plans run on the 5G network, all three have a 24-month term, and all three cost a one-off €19.99 activation fee. You should know these three facts before letting the monthly price dazzle you.

For context: 15 GB for €5.99 is a very solid rate – by comparison, the 1&1 All-Net Flat Basic costs €9.99 for 10 GB, and Penny Mobil charges €5.99 for just 5 GB. The mid-tier plan with 35 GB for €8.49 is arguably the most interesting of the trio: with the major network providers, you'd pay double to triple that for similar data allowance. The Pro plan with 120 GB is aimed at heavy users, whom we recently described in our data allowance calculation article – for everyone else, it's simply overkill.

The €19.99 activation fee slightly offsets the price advantage. Spread over 24 months, that's 83 cents per month – so the €5.99 effectively becomes €6.82. DSL with FRITZ!Box: the Telekom alternative for landline

For internet, Primavolt relies on classic DSL in three tiers: Volt Start 50 for €34.99, Volt Plus 100 for €39.99, and Volt Pro 250 for €47.99 per month. A landline flat rate is included everywhere – and here's the real plus point: a FRITZ!Box is included.

If you've read our article on free router choice you'll know we're picky about routers. Many providers foist nameless rental routers on their customers for a €5 monthly surcharge. The fact that a branded device is included here with no rental fee saves real money and hassle over the contract term. Price-wise, the DSL plans sit in the middle range – cheaper than Telekom (MagentaZuhause from €39.95), but above the bargain-price promotions of some cable providers. On the plus side, DSL is available almost everywhere, while cable and fibre depend on where you live; our connection comparison from January.

Everything from one source: convenience or concentration risk?

That leaves the actual promise: electricity, mobile, and internet with one provider, one customer account, one point of contact. Who is this worth it for?

Honestly: the convenience gain is real, but it has a downside. Anyone who bundles everything becomes more dependent on a single company. If everything goes well, it's wonderfully hassle-free. If there are problems, they affect several areas of life at once. And: the cancellation dates of multiple contracts drift apart if you signed up at different times – the "one provider" doesn't protect you from having to keep track of four contract terms.

Still: the legal situation has shifted noticeably in favour of customers in recent years. After the minimum term, telecommunications contracts can be cancelled with no minimum term going forward, and cancellation itself must be possible online with just a few clicks thanks to the cancellation button. So the 24-month risk is finite – if you're unhappy after two years, you can get out quickly. Still, 24 months are 24 months. People who love to switch and scour the market every six months won't be happy with any fixed-term contract, including this one.

Our stance on this: bundling, yes, but only if each individual component is competitive on its own. A good mobile plan doesn't justify an expensive electricity contract – and vice versa. With Primavolt, at least the mobile plans are strong in their own right and the DSL is solid; you'll need to compare the energy prices against your local basic supplier yourself – that's not something we can generalise for you.

Strengths and weaknesses at a glance

• Strong: 35 GB with 5G for €8.49 – one of the best rates on the market in this class.
• Strong: FRITZ!Box and landline unlimited calls included with all DSL plans, no router rental fee.
• Strong: One provider, one portal, one hotline for four categories.
• Weak: 24-month contract term on all plans – not exactly flexible.
• Weak: €19.99 activation fee, which slightly raises the effective price.
• Weak: A young provider without long-term track record. That's not a dealbreaker, but it is a fact.

Our recommendation

Primavolt isn't a plan for people who want maximum flexibility – the 24 months are fixed, and no-minimum-term alternatives exist elsewhere. But if you're already planning to stick with a plan for two years anyway, you'll get plenty of data and decent hardware for comparatively little money here. The Smart 35 plan in particular and the DSL package with the included FRITZ!Box stand out.
